The Bike Unit
is a part time operation that utilizes sworn
police officers from the Department. Personnel
authorized to ride in the bike unit are
required to attend a training class on
police mountain bikes and obtain
certification from the International Police
Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA). There
are currently four trained Bike Officers in
the Belleview Police Department.
The Police
Department has a fleet of four police
mountain bikes. The equipment and bicycles
for the unit were purchased from funds
donated by local businesses and civic
organizations. The Bike Officers can be
seen patrolling the local shopping centers
and all major events in Belleview.
