S.A.V.E

(SUBSTANCE ABUSE VIOLENCE EDUCATION)

S.A.V.E is a 13 week program currently being taught at Belleview Elementary by a Sworn Officer to children in the fifth grade to prevent or reduce drug abuse and violence among children and youth.  The program is taught in a classroom setting once a week for the duration of the school year.  During the S.A.V.E. class, children participate in class skits demonstrating the six levels of resolving conflicts.  They work in groups to complete workbooks and participate in class drawings for S.A.V.E prizes.  Before graduation an essay contest is held and the first place winner receives a trophy.  The Belleview Police Department has received positive input regarding the S.A.V.E. program from parents, teachers and children.
