Mayoral Responsibilities & Duties
The Mayor, who is elected on a City-wide basis, represents the Commission at all official functions. The Mayor presides at all Commission meetings, setting the agenda and maintaining order and decorum. The Mayor may also organize the Commission and assign Commissioners to specific areas of responsibility, subject to Commission approval. The Mayor does not have veto power, but will always vote last and thereby is the tie-breaker. The Mayor may also relinquish the chair to make a motion or offer a resolution or ordinance. The Mayor serves a two-year term.
