[ARCHIVED] City of Belleview Announces Election Qualifying Results

Belleview (Aug. 26, 2020) – The City of Belleview’s election qualifying period closed on Thursday, August, 20 at 4 PM.


The City of Belleview Commission Seats up for election in 2020 include the Mayor and Commission Seats 2 and 4. The Mayor and Commission Seat 2 were unopposed, leaving Christine Dobkowski as Mayor and Commissioner Gary Ernst in Seat 2.

Seat 4 had two qualifying candidates, Robert "Bo" Smith, and Wilma Loar. Residents may vote for Seat 4 on the Nov. 3 election ballot.


Belleview City Commission seat terms are for four years and are staggered, with elections held on even number years. The Mayor Seat, as well as Seats 2, and 4 elections, are currently being held. Seats 1 and 3 will be up for election in 2022.


The current City of Belleview Commission is: Seat 1, Michael Goldman; Seat 2, Gary Ernst; Seat 3, Ronald Livsey; Seat 4, Robert "Bo" Smith; and Mayor, Christine Dobkowski.


The Commission, which includes the Mayor, is responsible for determining the types and levels of services to be provided as well as enacting laws, regulations, and policies that govern the City and its activities. The Commission oversees the City’s general operation by approving the annual budget and subsequent amendments, all inter-local, development, franchise, and miscellaneous agreements and all land use and zoning changes. In addition to appointing the City Administrator and the City Clerk, the Commission also appoints members to various citizen boards and committees.
