Youth Council

About the Youth Council

The Belleview Youth Council is a leadership and civic engagement program designed to connect local high school students with their community through education, service, and hands-on experiences. Open to students in Belleview and the surrounding area—including those enrolled in public, private, or homeschool settings—the council offers an opportunity to learn about local government, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact in the community.

Participants meet monthly at Belleview City Hall in the Commission Meeting Room from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM on the following dates:

  • September 25, 2025
  • October 23, 2025
  • November 26, 2025
  • December 18, 2025
  • January 22, 2026
  • February 26, 2026
  • March 26, 2026
  • April 23, 2026
  • May 28, 2026

During these sessions, members engage directly with city and county leaders, department heads, and staff to explore how municipal government functions. Activities include facility tours, Q&A sessions, and discussions on civic responsibilities and public service.

The program emphasizes leadership development and community service. Each year, council members work together to create and implement a service project aimed at benefiting their peers or the broader community. In 2025, the council hosted “Just Dance, Just Listen,” an evening event at the Belleview Community Center that brought local teens together for an open mic, original poetry, singing, and group dancing with the popular Just Dance video game. More than 20 youth attended and enjoyed music, food, and meaningful expression in a supportive environment.

The Belleview Youth Council is a great way for students to build confidence, make new friends, and gain valuable experience in civic leadership. For more information contact Robert Vass at rvass@belleviewfl.org.
